The Willow Warbler (Phylloscopus trochilus) is of the family Phylloscopidae which is in the genus Phylloscopus.
This insectivorous leaf warbler is a common and widespread summer
resident from mid April to late September which breeds throughout the northern and temperate regions of
Eurasia. It is strongly migratory, with almost all of the population
wintering in sub-Saharan Africa. It is a bird of open woodlands with a preference
for habitats that include birch,
alder and willow trees as well as ground cover for nesting. |

The European Greenfinch (Chloris chloris) is a small passerine of the finch family Fringillidae which is in the genus Chlori.
It has a widespread distribution in Europe, northern Africa and
southwestern Asia. It also occurs as an introduced species in parts of
Australia, New Zealand, Argentina and Uruguay. Before the onset of
winter, northern populations migrate to the more temperate areas of its
range. In recent times, there has been a dramatic decline in numbers
due to the spread of trichomonosis disease that effects the digestive
system which results in mortality.

The Black-tailed Godwit (Limosa limosa) is of the family Scolopacidae which is in the genus Limosa. This large, long-legged and long-billed shorebird's breeding
range extends from Iceland through central Europe as well as central
and northeastern Asia. In the autumn, it migrates south to spend the
winter in southern and western Europe, sub Saharan Africa, southern Asia
and parts of coastal Australia. The species breeds in fens, damp
meadows, moorlands and bogs. In the winter, it occurs on estuaries, lake
shores, and in damp coastal fields. There are three subspecies recognised;

This stocky species breeds in the temperate regions
of Europe and Asia. Northern populations are migratory and move to
southern Eurasia for the winter. Unlike most other finches, bullfinches
don't form winter flocks. Normally encountered singularly or as a pair
but a small family group, usually comprising less than 10 individuals,
can be seen in late autumn/winter. |

The Lesser Yellowlegs
(Tringa flavipes) is a medium sized shorebird or wader of the family Scolopacidae which is the genus Tringa.
It is a common long distant migrant which
breeds in wetland areas in the boreal forests of Central and North West Canada as well as Alaska. In early
autumn it migrates south to its wintering areas in the Gulf of Mexico and South
America. It is also a very rare but annual autumn vagrant to North West Europe, including
Ireland.

CLICK ON PHOTO TO SEE HIGHER QUALITY IMAGE The Redwing (Turdus iliacus) is a species of thrush in the family Turdidae which is in the genus Turdus. It breeds in the northern parts of Eurasia extending eastwards from Iceland to eastern Russia. Small numbers have also recently been found breeding in Greenland. In the autumn, this highly migratory species leaves the colder parts of its breading range to winter further south in Europe as well as parts of North Africa and the Middle East extending to northern Iran. |

It is a widespread species and occurs in North America as well as Eurasia but is absent from the colder northern parts of this range. Up to 14 subspecies are generally recognised. There are two generations and it is one of the earliest blue butterflies to be seen, emerging in late spring.
